In partnership with Charlotte Radiology, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and FUZE ® the JLC WearHouse will host renowned speaker and author, Tamela Rich for its third annual breast cancer awareness training event.
The educational and social event is set for Wednesday night, October 24 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the nonprofit thrift store located at 1117 Pecan Avenue in Plaza Midwood.
The event is free and open to the public.
Three months after learning to operate a motorcycle, at age 48, Tamela Rich set off on her first cross-country trip, from North Carolina to Oregon and back, with a pink bra strapped across her bike’s windshield. Her book Live Full Throttle: Life Lessons From Friends Who Faced Cancer is based on her first two cross-country motorcycle trips to benefit breast cancer causes.
This past summer, Rich traveled across 24 states and Ontario on her trusty BMW. Rich’s second book, inspired by the summer trip, is currently in the works. In addition to writing two books of her own, Tamela is a business ghost writer, author and motorcycle adventurer who lives with her family in Charlotte, N.C.
In addition to the speaking program, the JLC WearHouse is offering an $8 special on all thrift sweaters to honor the statistic that 1 in 8 women is diagnosed with breast cancer. Light snacks and refreshments will also be provided. For more information, visit JLCWearHouse.org.
